As you may already know Mojang has changed their EULA for Minecraft and it states as of August 1st 2014 you will not be able to make money from anything made by Mojang even mods. You can read it here. Now here are all the problems people will face and where:
1.Factions
Factions is a pay to play Minecraft sub-game/ mini game. Although I think price limits of £50/$84/€63 should have been implemented as not everyone wants to pay £200 plus to play a game that costs £15. You may disagree with me when I say you need around £200 plus to play factions I mean that there will plenty of people that will be very superior to you unless you purchase a rank; many big factions will only allow you to join their faction unless you have a rank that's probably around £100 or more.
2. Kit PvP
Kit PvP isn't as much of a pay to play game as Factions although it can take to time to similar sort of gear as donators. This doesn't affect gameplay as non donors with little skill can still have fun in the warzone on their own and with friends.
3.Smaller mini games
Smaller mini games such as Sky Wars and Hunger Games/Survival Games are totally playable without purchasing ranks, gems or in-game items. All these items do are give you a slight advantage if you're not particularly good and the mini game you're playing but won't give you an advantage that makes you much more superior to the people you're playing with.
4.Server Owners and Hosts
I highly doubt many servers are going to close down because the owners can't afford to pay the server rent, I assume that most of this money is used to pay developers although some of this money may be used to pay server rent. This change of the EULA is going to stop the increase of new mini games that may of got people into Minecraft, I imagine that many people started playing Minecraft because of Minecraft Hunger Games. The productivity of this will slow down therefore leading hindering growth of Minecraft and I'm sure that this isn't what Mojang wants for the future of Minecraft. Anyway onto hosts.
Server host may have to lower the prices that they sell servers for as owners may not be able to afford to pay the amount that they currently do now.
Overall I think that Mojang are being very selfish, people buying ranks aren't affecting Mojang and making less people buy their game so in my eyes Mojang have no reason to change their EULA. If you want take part in a petition to get this EULA to change click here.
